AS GRP is standard. 1198 will work with all of them. $150  You might want to get the 1199. It has an internal GPS.

You could even go cheaper with the GR16 GPS Receiver.

what would i lose by going to the gr16 reciever.  The reason for the 1198 and not the 1199 as its on sale 800 cheaper right now.  also what transducer would i need to buy. sorry the hummingbird site is not displaying the models they work on for me.  and when mounting external gps is there a certain distance it has to be from headunit.

You would be giving up a little accuracy if using the GR16 versus the GRP.
XHS-9-HDSi-180-T Hi-Def Side Imaging transducer for the transom.
No minimum distance except that the unit should not be physically block the line of site between the GPS Receiver and the satellites.
