Title: option for decimal degrees in HBPC
Post by: 96720 on November 24, 2010, 02:02:58 PM
In viewing my trackplots in HBPC from my SD card all my points are given to me in degrees minutes seconds even though unit is set for decimal degrees.  Is there a way to change the read out so that HBPC shows the readings that the unit is set to read (decimal degrees)?

Yes, select "Edit" in the tool bar. Select "Preferences". Then set the "Position Format" to you preference.

Thanks Wayne, should have looked a little harder.....   :P

Hope this isn't as obvious as my last problem.  How do I copy or export the track data from the SD card to an excel spread sheet.  I can't seem to copy the data from the SD card in HBPC?

96720, I can't help you with that. I haven't needed that function to learn how to do it, if possible.

I haven't used it myself but I think you can copy the HB format info from the SD card into this program for conversion into many different formats...

Title: still can't copy data from HBPC

Finally got to try and export the HB .ht file from SD card with GPSBabel it did work and I was able to see the track point Lat/long but no depth.  I don't know if it's the issue of too many track points (> 1000 pts) and you lose the depth readings that others have mentioned.  I'll have to try again with a track with less than 1000 points to be certain.  I still can not export or copy the the visible track data viewed in HBPC, anyone with ideas?

96720,
With the navigation data on the SD card try reading it in HummPC.  You should be able to view it fine and have an extra option of showing the trackpoints individually with Lat./Lon. And depth data as well.  Cannot remember which buttons you select in HummPC (at home right now).  When the info shows up I think that you can copy and paste it directly into EXCEL.  If you cannot get it to work right post bac as I think I will have time Tuesday morning to test this out for you if needed.

Greg,

I can view the lat/long and depth in HBPC but I can not find a way to copy it.  I highlight all the data but no option to copy on menu or right clicking.  I can not find any other option to copy or export in the HBPC menus.  Thanks again.

I just did a waypoint library copy/paste from HB PC to Excel and it worked for me.
I have Windows Vista on this computer.

I just did the same thing Wayne except that I am using a Windows XP machine and it worked.

96720,
Try following the attached document on how to view the water depth data from a Track.  When you get to the end where you can see the water depth data and coordinates I used the left mouse button to select the top trackpoint and than held the SHIFT button when I selected the last trackpoint (again with the left mouse button).  This selects all of the trackpoints within that Track.  I than used the CTRL + C button on my computer to perform a copy function.  I switched to EXCEL and used the CTRL + V button to paste the information into a spreadsheet.

Thanks again,
Tim

Tim,
I am out of my office today and do not have access to my computer or any of my stuff.  Maybe Wayne can check into this for you.
