AIS software problem
« on: December 26, 2011, 03:35:03 PM »
Can anyone help regarding AIS connection, I have just downloaded the 5.840 version to my 1197.
When I go to the accessories tabof the main menu,  I was supposed to find a AIS submenu, but it is not there.
I have connected a SR 162 AIS to RS 232.
Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong ??

The connection looks right. RS232........That will use a special cable DB9 on one end and the HB on the other.

dont know why this is happening.  You might try chewcking the cable connectors especially at the HB unit. Try a meter and make sure the cable does not have bad back connector soldering or open wires...

Chuck, how are you able to see the AIS connections on his 1197 all the way from NC to Denmark?  LOL!  ;D

Jens,
See the attached document for proper connection to the 1197.  I believe that there is also a post or two about connecting an AIS unit on this web site, so try searching for them.

Thanks Greg, I had connected to the wrong plug on the back, I will change it in 2 weeks when I get back from work.
Keep you posted on the outcome.
Happy newyear to all.
