I no nothing about a 1197 but I have a 1198. Do the 1197 do the samething the 1198 does?

Mostly, but:
The 1198 has a brighter screen and a faster processor.
Also, the 360 transducer accessory does not work with
the 1197.
Also, Radar will not work with the 1197.
The 1197 is considered a legacy unit (old stuff).
Be thankful you have an 1198.
Right now, it's the state of the art.
