New to this fourm and Humminbird NEED SOME HELP PLEASE
« on: October 27, 2015, 06:53:24 PM »
I am new to Humminbird and I just installed a new 1199 and a 998 and linked them together via Ethernet. I hooked the 998 to the transducer in my trolling motor. I am getting interference on both my units when I step on the trolling motor pedal. I did not have this issue with my lowrance units.

Thanks in advance for any help

Try a dedicated battery. Batteries Plus has small 12 volt batteries in the $30 range that will run a fish finder all day. If you have a spare regular battery that is good, you can test with it and see if your problem is resolved before you spend any money on a small battery.

Tried all that myself and helped some, but the cure is a ferrite ring. Call them loop the transducer cable thru 6 or 7 times behind the unit. I fixes about 95% of them.  Call Tech Support. I have fix a lot of them with this very simple fix. Just rigged out new boat and installed when twin 1199. Believe me it should fix it.

What is a ferrite ring? and where do you get one? I get a lot of static from my trolling motor in the side scan or down image more but not in sonar mode. wondering if would help that.

Call or contact Humminbird Tech Asst. They sent me one free of charge. It's a Ring that you put the transducer cable thru in and out as many times as you can then plug back into the unit. I darn sure works. Almost everybody that has done it as has there unit cured. All the stuff in above videos help the ferrite Ring is the God Sense believe me. Search this page and the u tube you will find info on it. Thats where I first saw it after months and months of trying to get trolling motor unit that I could read.
