Title: Files on the SD card
Post by: rnvinc on February 03, 2010, 04:50:32 PM
After I've made a few recordings and a few snapshots onto the SD card.....

I put the SD card in  my pc and see the following on my SD card.....

Record (folder)
Snapshot (folder)
Profille.txt (text document in notepad)

Does the "Profile.txt" document have to stay in the same directory as either/both of the folders for the info in the folders to work correctly in my viewer programs....??

No, the profile does not have to be copied over.  It is just unit info and is updated and stored when you have the sd card in.

You can use the profile.txt to customise your startup screen.

If I want to re-insert the SD card back into my 1197 unit and view the snapshots/recordings on the 1197 unit...

Does the Profile.txt have to be on the SD card along with the "Snapshot" folder and the "Recording" folder in order for the snapshots and recordings to function properly on the 1197 unit...??

I have a 595c.  I have read the instructions many times and I know and understand how the F/F works, however could you lay out a scenario for me, or check mine.  Launch, turn on f/f use all the time, then at the dock again, save Nav. data; and at home download data onto a SD card and then upload to computer and then I can review tracks, way-points etc., then do I delete all Nav. data, and start fresh?  Or do I want to save some of the Nav. data; ie, way points?   I thought I had this all working properly, but now I am confused about the 'Delete all Nav Data'

Thanks for your help.

I hope someone will chime in if I get this wrong...

Waypoints, routes and tracks are automatically saved into the FF unit's internal memory...

When you want to use that info in your home pc....you have to "Download" that info from your unit onto the SD card so that, now,  you have 2 copies of the info...1 on the FF unit...and 1 on the SD card....

The info that you now have the SD card can be used in your pc in Hummingbird PC to manage the waypoints, routes and tracks...

The info that is still in your FF unit will stay there until you decide "if" you want to get rid of it by "Deleting all NAV Data" in the menu system...

It's a good idea to keep a copy of this data on your pc in case the info gets erased from your FF unit when you do a software update...

I've seen "FF" in other forums when talking about a fish finder...

I, myself don't believe there is such a thing as a fish finder....lol......unless ,of course we're talking about birds of prey...they can find fish..... ;D

My "FF" only tells me what it "thinks" is a fish.... ;D ;D ;D
