Onix .acu files From Zerolines card to Autochart Pro
« on: July 06, 2015, 03:39:03 PM »
Can anybody give me the easy way to import the .acu files created on my zerolines card by my Onix into Autochart Pro? Humminbird seems to be stunned by my question (not replying anyway).

I talked to a humminbird tech the other day and he said auto chart for pc will not reconize the .acu files made by auto chart live. But if the onix just records the data not live it can then be used with the auto chart software for pc. I would think being it is the same program they would make it 100% compatable. Considering i record all my data live with auto chart pro and a windows tablet on my boat so whats the difference. I would hope at least they release a update for auto chart pc to covert the .acu file to a bin file down the road.

I got the same reply finally about the "Live" version, guess it will have to be dead from now on to import. Their ads don't tell you that when they want to sell you $3k in fishfinders.

I do not know for certain, since I don't own an Onix, but couldn't you set up your Onix AutoChart Live to be updating the map live,
AND
at the same time start a sonar recording?

That way your background map is being updated in AutoChart live, and later you'd have the sonar recording if you want to look at it in AutoChart Pro on your computer.

Sometimes I wonder about Johnson Outdoors group  ::) Why they put raw products like Onix10SI on market. I konw 6 Onix owners and just one is happy, but he is not using PC at all ...so....

For example - I cannot correct wrong data made by Autochart live in other way that fluently remaping wrong place :) Result - I use AClive in very rare cases.

I use Onix10SI since 3 month and do a lot with mapping. I wonder - why AClive do not conversate with AC pro. OK, so.. but :

Did anyone try to copy AC folder from Zeroline card to another Zeroline card? Do it works?

Yes i have tried that and it dosent work. I even converted the files to .bin files and it dosent reconize them. Its not rocket science people all the files are is a pile of GPS coordinates and sonar points. You cant tell me they cant be converted to be compatable.

Actually, not really.

That is true about the track files that are converted in AutoChart Pro, yes, those are just autochart files with a bunch of lat/long/depth data.

However, the background map that is created from those data files, is actually basically just a background image that is georeferenced to show up in the correct location on the gps map of your depthfinder.  The background map, actually doesn't contain any depth 'data'.  Just an image of contour lines basically.

And one reason they don't let you copy the custom map from one card to another, probably has to do with concerns about copying cards and getting past the encryption on individual cards.

Either way this is pretty basic stuff, if they wanted it to happen it would. If my contour lines i create dont contain any location data how does my ipilot link follow the contours i make? Is the gps map filled with every lat and long point and it uses that to follow the line i made?

This would be a good thing to post in the wish list section.
