Map offset and wpts
« on: October 10, 2013, 05:39:11 PM »
Found out today that my map was off some when I pulled up to a bridge on my home lake.  Not noticed it till today and it was not much.

My Q is this: I already have multiple wpts saved, after doing this offset does this make my old wpts pull off target?

Was coming off the lake when I did this and started to think about it on the way home.  Going back out in the morning but would like to know now if anyone can help.

thx

OK....I'm only 99% sure of this, but I don't think the map offset will have any effect on your waypoints.  Your waypoints are a GPS postion, not a place on the map.

The map data is an "overlay" on top of the gps data.  You could mark waypoints without having any map.
**Looking for the one that makes it all worthwhile**

Bob B, you were so close on this one but you got it wrong… you were not 99% on this: you were 100%!  ;D

You are correct: waypoints are a set of coordinates while the map image is just that: an image that can be moved around behind the waypoints.  Slabbbacks your waypoints should still be good.
