Does the smart cast transducer broadcast it's data on RF? If so I thought it the 898's, 989's etc have some sort of internal antenna? Because I thought you could use smart cast with those units. And if you can is there the option to turn off the receiver to smartcast Hmm Unsure:/ If this line of thought has any revelation to it.

Good point....

While it may have some bearing I thought it might be better to have another subject.

The SmartCast does send its sonar data via Radio Frequency.
The 898 and 998 units cannot use the AS-RSL Wireless Sonar Link accessory but some of the older 700 series units could.  You could not turn off the receiver but you could choose not to display the View that displayed the SmarCast information.

since this is a thru the air transmission I guess it  could interfere with other units..Although it may be a low power and not introduce interference.

Any one have one and have tried this..
