Darren, which sonar transducer did you receive with your unit?

Sounds like you have the right transducer.  Just wanted to make sure you were shipped the right one.
So you are saying the 2D regular sonar is fine  and that when switching to DI it goes black..

Yes the 2d seemed to work mostly fine, maybe a little glitchy. Then when i switch to the 3d screen the depth lines show up fine just now blue images , it just stays black...  Im not sure if the way ive mounted the tranducer may be the problem, as ive mounted it in the hull off my fiber glass boat using resin as instructed.

There maybe your problem, I know the side image transducer will not work through the hull so I am guessing the down image transducer part of your transducer will not work through the hull but the 83 and 200 Hz will.

Thanks rob, it looks like you are right. I removed the tranducer from the hull and put it in a water butt , i then got good readings on both 2d and 3d. so will will have to go for a transome install.

Thanks alot Darren.

Darren,
If the unit is now showing DI sonar with the transducer in the water but not in the hull than the problem was the installation of the DI transducer.  May have been an air bubble or something under that portion of the transducer (the element for the 2D sonar is on the fatter rounder end of the transducer while the DI sonar comes from the more narrow pointed end).  When you tested the transducer inside-the-hull before epoxying it in place, did the Di sonar work well than?
