You will have to mark a waypoint by using the menus on the 718 unit.  The way to do this should be the same as it was on your Matrix 12 unit: press the MENU button to bring up the X-Press menus and select the “Mark” menu to set the waypoint.

If you are trying to enter in waypoint coordinates from a list, than again it should be the same as it was on your Matrix 12.  Press the MENU button twice to get into the main menu system.  Move to the “Nav” tab and scroll down until you see the “Waypoint” menu.  Open this up by using the Right Arrow button.  Than select the “Create” selection (again with the Right Arrow) and start entering in your data.  Do not forget to “Save” each waypoint as you go.

That sound pretty easy. Even though this unit is new, It still acts like the depth reading is off but the next time I am out, I am going to bring a tape measure. I have read that this a problem with them which really is a surprised about. Hummingbird themselves to be honest is of little help. I fish salt water so it is set for saltwater. I don't know how many on here use it for the same reason? If this doesn't work out, I may have to try another maker. has anybody used it for wrecks or reefs? how has it worked for you? Thanks

By “depth reading is off” do you mean that when in 5 feet of water it is showing 4 or 6 feet deep or more like 10, 15 or 20 feet deep?

Are you using the Saltwater Shallow or Deep menu setting?

Try adjusting the Surface Clutter menu and see if that helps.

I was in salt water and it was set for salt water so that was correct.  I will have to look into the surface clutter part but it was saying 4 1/2 feet deep and my daughter boyfriend is 6`4 and he never touched bottom jumping is so it was at least 2 ft off. just found that strange.  :o

Where do I go from here and correct the problem?
