1197 1kw transducer problems
« on: March 13, 2013, 08:31:29 PM »
I installed the 1kw bronze transducer xth 9 db 35 kw t using the as si db y cable. When I power the unit on, I get "transducer not connected" and it runs in simulation mode. I did the status test and the only thing which shows to be connected is the gps. Please Help!

Do you have any other transducers connected to the AS-Si-DB-Y cable?
It is not needed with this transducer as this transducer only has 2D sonar (not Si sonar).
Try connecting the transducer straight to the 1197 unit and see if it turns on and goes into the normal operational mode or not.

Why are you trying to do with this 1kW transducer?

I did have the si transducer connected to the y cable. When I bypassed the y cable and plugged the 1kw transducer directly into the 1197, it seemed to work, but I have not water tested this yet. I was under the impression that by using the y cable, I could keep the side imaging  signal and receive the signal from the 1kw 200/50 transducer instead of the 200/83 incorporated in the si transom mount transducer.
I fish exclusively in saltwater at depths from 60feet for snapper to 2000 ft for swordfish, but mostly in the 200-400 ft range, and I am trying to keep side imaging while increasing the bottom capabilities.

Connecting the Si transducer with the AS-Si-DB-Y cable will allow the Si sonar to work but maybe not as you would want it to.

In the Transducer Select/Connected Transducer menu there are several settings.

“Hi-Def Sidescan” will allow the 455/800kHz Si sonar to work along with the 200/83kHz 2D sonar to work.  With your HDSi/1kW transducer set up the 455/800kHz Si sonar will work as normal but only the 200kHz 2D sonar will work.

“Dual 50/200” will only allow the 50/200kHz to work.  That is all that you will get with your HDSi-1kW transducer setup.

“Sidescan” will only allow the 262/455kHz Si sonar to along with the 50/200kHz 2D sonar to work.  With your HDSi/1kW transducer setup only the 455kHz Si sonar will work but the 50/200kHz 2D sonar will work.  This may be the menu setting that you need to use.
