i have this unit on the front of my boat. like i said it starts out fine the the temp and voltage start reading off the wall readings. temp drops to -3 deg. , and the voltage goes to 16+ volts. it takes it about an hour of usage before it starts. any ideas would be great. Thanks

Tang, Sounds like a 12VDC power falt. Run the wire, Clean the plug and check the pins.
Good Luck. Roddy

Is this with the 587 unit connected to the same mount and run at least an hour as well?

The 587 will run all day with no problems. I put the 767 in a buddies boat, the only thing we saw was the temp not read right. I don't know how to check the connections other than to open it up. Is this what I should do?
-
NO!
All you should do is look at the connectors on the backside of the unit and see if you can tell that the sockets are malformed or larger than those on your 587 unit. If they are, then let the Humminbird Service folks know this. If they aren’t, then you are still faced with sending your unit in to them to be tested and worked on. If you can provide any additional information to help them pinpoint the problem you should (Ex: it only happens on sunny days over 95 degrees, it only happens when the water is rough,…).

Is your 767 and 587 hooked to the same battery?
If not, then fully charge and load test the battery
hooked to the 767.
It doesn't matter when you bought the battery,
or if you KNOW it's good.
Get it tested.

It's on the same battery, I have not had it checked but my 898 is on the same battery and is working fine.the connections look good to me so I'm not sure but I'm starting to think there is just something wrong with the unit.

If you have an inline fuse, you may want to check it for
corrosion, and the connections there.
Other than that, it might be time to send it in.
