Yellowfin software
« on: October 23, 2011, 01:09:04 PM »
I want to try the Yellowfin software for viewing sonar recordings.
The link on this site to install the software doesn't work on my computer.

I see on the www.imagenex.com site that I'm supposed to contact them
at imagenex@shaw.ca.

I was wondering if anyone knows how much the software costs and
if the updates cost anything.

Thanks in advance.

YellowFin does not recognize the HB files.  The converter was written by a certain person who broke into the code...
Install the YF program and use the HBSI converter to make HB files available to YF.....
ITG   what computer type do you have?
YF works on all of our computers..Even the windows 7...

Chuck,
I'm using Windows XP.

I downloaded and installed the HBSI converter Ok, but the Yellowfin doesn't install.

OK.  One of our computer is the XP and yellowFin installed and ran ok...
We have it on Win2000, XP, Vista and win-7.....
It is possible to remove the attemp and try a new download and install.
Does it give an error or what happens when you try the install...
I think you have to do the install and then do each upgrade.  (2 of them)

Here is what I got from Imagenex:
Quote
We have not given permission to anyone to distribute the YellowFin software for any equipment other than the YellowFin system. It is not intended to be used on any hardware other than the YellowFin System. We do not support or troubleshoot Humminbird sonars and I think it would be best to direct any technical questions you have directly to them.

Bummer.

Yes that is true.
However.  Prior to loading any data the YF program must install and I dont think that HB has any control over the install program. YF needs to step up to that..
Once the prog loads then the issue is whose data will you ask for it to open. That is where the HBSI converter comes into play.
Since the YF program is on this thread I dont know if a license is required to speak with them in detail..
I would call YF back one more time and ask abut the pure base install. If they ask how you got the program then they may not support you......
I still dont know why it does not install as it is on several XP systems that I know of..
Of course we have it on XP, Vista and Win-7...
