Title: before software updates
Post by: T.G on January 11, 2012, 04:17:46 PM
hi guys, a quick question,am i right in thinking that if i have a memory card that stays in my machine the whole time, every way point ,snap shot etc gets saved on that & when i go to update my machine, i can use a different memory card, just to load the update ,(yes i know about restoring & what not),then when i put the original card back in, all my info will still be there?
thanks TG

TG

Recordings are just the recordings for you to review either on the unit (way too slow) or on your computer.  When you reset back to default, you will lose your menu settings, this is not saved on the card (maybe someday).  The waypoints are saved internally and they are there until you physically erase them.

Yes I use a small SD card for making my software updates.

Your unit stores all your snapshots and recordings om a SD card if #1 you have a SD card in the slot #2 if you have the snapshot feature turned on. Waypoints, tracks an routes must be downloaded buy you in order to get them on the SD card.
Yes you can use a much smaller SD  card to put your updates on. I use one of my slots for recordins an snapshots
and the other slot for map card.  Gary
