erham; I have a Standrd Horizon 2100 with AIS/DSC to a HB 987 and 1198.
Any AIS/DSC radio should work. Only thing to do is hook-up HB GPS to radio and the AIS/DSC output to the HB unit.
!5mim to hook-up.
then program in AIS and DSC codes.
Enjoy and good luck! Roddy

According to the NMEA 0183 wikipedia article, AIS units use default baud rate of 38400:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NMEA_0183 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NMEA_0183)
..there is no mention of any baud rate adjustment (for AIS/RS-232) in the Humminbird manual (..for my 998c-SI)

The AIS/DSC brad rate will be listed in the AIS/DSC radio inst book
The HB 998 inst book has AIS inst on pg 132/133/134/135.
And NMEA output on pg126/130/131.
See what pops up on the drop down!

There is no Baud Rate adjustment on the Humminbird units.
We have tested the AIS features using the GeoNav brand AIS system (I don’t know what the model was).

Hello
I have an NASA MARINE , AIS ENGINE 2 receiver and after several attempt I suddenly get it connected with my Humminbird 1197c SI
I use the connection explained in:
http://www.humminbird.com/Faq.aspx?TaxonomyId=98A1885 (http://www.humminbird.com/Faq.aspx?TaxonomyId=98A1885)
The AIS are not viewed in the SYSTEM STATUS (ACCESSORY TEST)
but when the AIS receiver send data to Humminbird you can select AIS at the Accessories Menu Tab
