Does anyone know what size these files become as you're recording? I have come to understand the largest SD the Helix 10 can support is 32gb. How many recordings will hold? an hour? 4 hours? 8???

My recording does not include the B000 (83kHz) Sonar frequency - I always shut off 83kHz when recording to allow somewhat smaller file sizing ...

That's good intel Rickie thanks. If my math is right there is 1000 mb in a gb. Your 241mb file is about 5.5mb per minute. So... in theory a 32gb is 32,000mb. If I divide that by 5.5mb that gives me 5,818 minutes or close to 97 hours of record time on a 32gig sd card.

Sounds right to me ...
When I first got my unit I would fish until about 30minutes before dark and then pack up ...
Then I would motor to a spot about 1/2 mile from the launch ramp ...start recording and record all the way to the launch ramp at a consistent boat speed ...
These recordings made good study - and marking waypoints during the playback allowed me to have possible "fishy" spots to verify when I got back to that same area ...
After returning to that same area of the lake and verifying what a waypoint-ed "fishy" Spot really was - I could then delete the waypoint or possibly rename it in the waypoint management Menu ...
This procedure gives experience in recording, playback, marking waypoints in recordings, returning to Waypoints on the water, deleting waypoints, renaming waypoints, and unit settings ...
I still have my library of recordings created after I first received my unit ...
I will offer that it's a good idea to come up with a good filing system so that your future use of your own Snapshots and Recording library is easy to understand years down the road ...
A few points to consider ...:
*SnapShot PNG files must be kept with the associated dat file (in the SNAPSHOTS folder on the SD card) in order for the thumbnail of that snapshot to be seen when the cursor on the Chart view is hovering over a waypoint created when that snapshot was taken ...
*Snapshots must be a folder on the SD card labeled SNAPSHOTS to be viewed in the unit Snapshot and Recording view ...
*Recordings must have the associated files with each R000x recording (in the RECORD folder) on the SD card in order to play back the recoeding on the unit ...
*Recordings must be in a folder labled RECORD on the SD card to be viewed in the Snapshots and Recording view ...

Until I can get my simulator up and running I'll have to take your word for it Rickie. You did lose me about four folders into it lol... But sounds like you have to kind of keep the same file structure in order for it all to work right. I do get what you're saying about a consistent naming and file structure for the future.
