Title: Down Imaging
Post by: J_ROW on January 30, 2010, 05:50:26 PM
 ;D ;D
If when side imaging you need to be doing 3-10 MPH to get a good image then do you need to be going 3-10 mph to get a good down imaging picture or will the picture be just as good when you are sitting still over a brush pile????? Just wondering.

unless you are using sector scan (not on the HB menu)  you must be moving at some speed to create a display depicting the botton and structure.  Speeds will vary as to the actusl picture you are seeking.  Chuck

Check out some of Jason Halfen's stuff at...http://www.jasonhalfenoutdoors.com/index.html (http://www.jasonhalfenoutdoors.com/index.html)

He has some great images at less than 1mph...proving that images can be had with the right settings.....

You are right.  It takes some motion to make the target "scan"  Yes even .5 MPH will be enough. dead stop will not do anthing but scan in one place and that will not creat anything but a flat target. .  I will check his site.  thanks.  Chuck
