Need some help.

I need to know what gauge wires do I need to use for the Humminbird, and for the Minn Kota? to extend the length a little more.

Welcome to the Humminbird Side imaging Forums RoeckerJ57.

The length that you will extend the wires will help dictate what you should use for either as will the amp draw of the device that you are connecting it to.

For your Humminbird units you could get away with using a 20 AWG wire for your 581i DI unit or your 398ci Si unit if each are powered by a different connection to the battery.  Ideally I tell folks to use a 16 AWG (14 AWG would be better if connecting more than one unit to the same set of wires) and run them all the way from the unit to the battery that powers them.  Solder and seal all connections, use a good quality blade type (automotive) fuse and new fuse holder that seals and use new battery connections – but I am known for overkill when it comes to wiring!

For the trolling motor wire gauge size I’m going to direct you to a FAQ on the Minn Kota web site:

Here is a PDF chart that will help you determine the size wire you will need for 12 and 24 volts.

Thanks.  I will be using only one Fish finder at a time once in awhile on my small pontoon boat, I got the Colorado XT(Classic Accessories),  I got 14g for the electronics, I might get 10g for the motor 40#,  I did get a 12g wire tonight.
