Most of SD/SDHC cards work with units
If u want record dont go smaller than 2GB
I use SanDisk 2GB and 16 GB

Your best bet is several 2GB SD cards from sandisk, they should work straight out of the packaging, if you ever need to format them, you can use  HumminbirdPC.

Hi Mako 101,
What is the advantage to several small capacity cards vs one high capacity card per unit? I was hoping 32g cards were going to work with these units but very open to any suggestions, These are my first advanced units so I'm completely dumb to what works best in the real world. lol
Thanks in advance!

It really depends on what you want to do.  If you are only going to capture some pic's, then a 2G card will hold a lot of them.  They are only about 200K each.

If you want to make some videos, then go with the bigger card.  I've had my 997 since 2007 and never captured a video.  Then, catching fish is my goal, not posting a bunch of crap on You Tube.

There might be a benefit to having several small cards, one for each lake if you think that way.

Personally, I'd get a 8 or 16 card and be done with it.  I've always used SanDisk, but that's probably more habit than anything else.

Scott, here is what someone wrote in a previous post, it may be of help to you:

I keep 5 SD cards with my unit at all times...

1 with current version of software..
1 with previous version of software...
1 with all backed up waypoint data...
1 with saved recordings and snapshots of previous trips...
1 blank for today's recordings and snapshots...

Another factor to keep in mind besides size is the speed.
For example-- in today's Walmart add they have SanDisk Ultra 20MB/s cards on sale.
Last November I bought SanDisk Ultra 30MB/s cards at Staples for the same or less money.
Not long ago we had to buy the premium SanDisk Extreme cards to get 30MB/s.
I believe SanDisk is increasing the write speed on their cards. Be careful when you shop.
