Hi T.G.

Set your Unit to the default mode first  before putting card in unit then turn the unit off

For now copy the file to SD card and if its on your Mac then insert the SD into HB card slot then turn HB on. The unit will do update automatically. After update I set my unit to default mode again.

To eliminate copying the updates to your Mac just direct Safari in preferences to download it straight to the SD card
then copy the file to your Mac for safe keeping after updating your unit if you need to go back to an earlier update. I always use a blank SD card for the updates.

You cant open .bin files on the Mac.

Most of the third party software is not Mac compliant either.

But there is plenty of EXCELLENT help here on this forum

Regards
Geoff

T.G.
Remove the SD card from HB unit and save the file to a back up or your Mac then delete the .bin file from the SD card and insert it back into HB unit. This should stop the "software up to date message".
I have two SD cards , one for updates and one for waypoints and routes etc.  Only leaving the one card in HB unit even though it has the two slots. Just my preference.
I use the recommended Sandisk Extreme III 30mg 8GB which appears to work well with HB.

Do you power up your unit from the boat or on the bench.

Where are you in Oz?

g`day Geoff, that was my way of thinking, but just wanted to be sure,i will grab a 2nd card soon.I had some screen shots on the card but saved them to a file on my computer then deleted them to do the download,am i able to put them back on the card & have them show up on the unit again?I power the unit up in the boat but i turn the sonar off while doing this at home, which i see was easily accessed when powering down after the software update.Mate i`m on the south coast at a place called sussex inlet,i mainly fish st georges basin, but with this new unit i might start heading back over the bar to find some nice reefs perhaps.

“am i able to put them back on the card & have them show up on the unit again?”
Yes but you will have to put them in a folder named “SNAPSHOT”.  They will also not be linked to the original waypoints as they were before because the associate *.dat files are now gone.

hi , i headed out today for a quick run to test the unit after the update & everything was ok,i did get a bit of interference on the left side of the side scan but i think that is because i moved my transducer a little deeper to get a good reading of 2d sonar at a decent speed & i think it is showing my live bait pump that is on my transom,if this is the case i will just move the pump .
