Transducer is making a electric noise when unit is on
« on: July 15, 2014, 08:44:31 AM »
Hi guys,

my unit transducer (XNT 9 SI 180 T) is doing a funny noise when I turn on my 798 unit. Is this a normal behavior? Would  that be the reason why I do not see any fish on my sonar for the last 2 months?

What sort of funny noise is this Beaulieu80?
Is this a tick, tick, tick sound?
Is the transducer in the water when it does this or is this when out of the water?
What type of boat do you have (metal, fiberglass, wood) and where is the transducer mounted?

I hear a tick tick tick sound yes when it is outside and inside of the water.

I have a aluminium walleye V boat and it is mounted to a mobile bracket so I can use my unit with my other boats.

the bracket is about 8inch of my motor (40hp)

Between that bracket and the aluminum boat it is somehow amplifying the transmit pulse sound from the transducer.  I wouldn’t worry about it.
