Problems with 898c HD SI combo sw v6.610 and Dr. Depth
« on: April 21, 2013, 11:24:10 AM »
Hello gents,

and thank you for reading my posting first!

I have an 898c HD SI in use and have been updating the software according the recommendation of my "Support account" at humminbird.
However, that was on Wednesday last week and since then I have done some tracks on the river Danube for establishing my private depth card. Since I updated the software it is not possible for me to import/ convert the data from the SD- Card into a Dr. Depth file, I am getting always the messages "No data found" or "Wrong beam, buddy!".
I have done some test- tracks with several different settings in the last few hours, nothing is working any more with Dr. Depth, no matter what beam is chosen on the Sonar (200, 83 and 200/ 83 kHz settings tried).

So now I want to go back to 6.490 version, downloaded it here and copied it to my SD- card. The card is plugged in the unit as on Wednesday when I did the upgrade, but the unit does not react to the lower software version. What am I doing wrong?

I have searched the board here the last two hours and did not find anything, maybe I am just blind ;)

Thanks in advance for your help,

Best Regards,
Matthias

I do not know why, but I formatted the SD- Card and put the *.bin file again back on it.
The unit recognized the file and stepped back to the lower version.
Although I tried it the whole afternoon with the exactly same file but without the formatted card, it did not work.

I also tried to import a *.son file generated with the 6.490 version, and it worked again to import the file into Dr. Depth.

So all users of Dr. Depth in conjunction with a Humminbird 898c HD SI- Device: DO NOT UPDATE TO v6.610!

Best Regards,
Matthias

What version of DrDepth are you using? DrDepth version 5.1.8 or higher is needed if you are using recording with the newer 6.610 Humminbird update. There was a recording format change that they are using in their new firmware updates. DrDepth 5.1.8 was updated to be able to use that format.

Also be aware that there is no sycronization between the present version if Humminbird PC and the new firmware update. After updating the firmware to 6.610 on my 998, any time I loaded a DATA file into my unit there were icons that changed from what they were previously. I went back to firmware version 6.420 so all of my old files will have the correct icons on the screen when I load the DATA files.
