798c si depth 1.5 - 1.6
« on: September 23, 2012, 07:28:09 PM »
I have a 798c si unit that has a shoot thru transducer and the
Side imaging transducer. It has
The y cable. I have had this unit for over a year with no problems. Sometime in June I
Installed the 6.3 version fr the 5.8 version. Since the update my depth readings bounce
Back from 1.5 to 1.6 foot. I contacted customer service and they told
Me to change a few settings on surface clutter and change it to saltwater. It did not help
Any suggestions? Should I reinstall vs 5.8 and see if that fixes my problem?

First, make sure that you have tried both the maximum and minimum settings for the Surface Clutter menu on your 798ci Si unit.

Next I would try unplugging the AS-Si-DB-Y cable and test both the inside-the-hull and Side Imaging transducers by themselves to see if you get the correct water depth readings.  This will tell us whether the problem is in the unit, transducer splitter cable or the inside-the-hull transducer.
