Topic: Boat Speed for most precise recording

OK you side-imaging gurus out there.
I already know that you should match your chart speed to
your boat speed in MPH when using side-imaging.

But, to get the most precise, most detailed recordings:
Is it better to go .5 MPH or 5 MPH, and why?

Around 1-2mph. Chart speed irrelevant if you record the data. But I keep it around 5

This week-end I will recheck the ping rate of the unit with MAX depth setted correctly,
which will boost the speed a little.

I did an SI recording once with the Chart Speed set at 10 (Max).
I then did another recording with the Chart Speed set at 2.

Both times I was going at exactly 2mph.
While viewing in Humviewer, I could tell that the second recording was
much clearer than the first.  I could see the segment/splice lines in the first recording,
but they were much better blended in the second recording.

So, I do think that chart speed (in relation to boat speed) while recording does
matter a lot.

If you use HumViewer, the chart speed is important when you review your data.

Me, I use DrDepth SideScan and it shows the SI data in relative with the boat speed.
So the image is never stretched or compressed.
