Temp not Working 998SI & HPTH 9HDSI 180T
« on: May 17, 2010, 08:52:17 PM »
I just installed  my 998cSI everything is working, but the temp. It is not displayed at all. I have a 9HDSI 180T transducer with built in temp. I must be overlooking something. Any ideas??

Look under the “Setup” menu tab for the “Select Readouts” menu.  This is where you set the “Temperature” to display in one of the digital information boxes.

If “Temperature” is not a selectable option there, than go to the “Views” menu tab and set the “Accessory Test” View to “Visible” and scroll through the Views until you get to it.  See whether the Temperature is showing as “CONNECTED” or “UNCONNECTED”.

Thanks Greg - Your instructions worked perfectly!! I just needed to understand the menus better. I can't wait to learn more on the waters of Pickwick this weekend.

I had the same problem and then it said unconnected for the temp.  How can this be fixed?

i'd like to bump this thread because my temp sensor is reading "unconnected" as well.   am i to assume that my transducer has no temp sensor in it?   i'm running a 998c s1 combo.   i cant find anywhere on the box the model number of transducer that i have.

thanx for this forum!

Do you have a friend that will let you try his teansducer?  Or can you try your unit on his boat?
lets see if we can isolate a unit or transducer.
Chuck.

That's something i've been wanting to try but i have no one close to take my unit to their boat and check it out.  Any way to tell if my transducer has the temp sensor in it?       Thanx for the reply!

the t in the part number denotes temp
the transducer itself will have a little silver button on it
this is the temp sensor

well,,,,,, called HB today.   very nice.  tried to help me trouble shoot, but the final solution was to send me an auxillary temp probe.  im glad for the help and the offer, but it makes me wonder why they didnt even explore the option of trouble shooting the transducer.   i guess maybe they're having probs with this transducer??????

Not a lot of trouble shooting to do.  It either works or it does not. The only help for trouble shooting is to swap out the transducer.  The cable does not have a lot of probe points or ones that deal directly with the temp sensor. That is all behind the sealed shoe.
For most trouble shooting it is a swap and see.
This is why our membership list is important, to be able to see where the closest member swap help is available.
Most dealers may not have a swap piece as they so not like to open the boxes until sold.
let us know how this goes and what the fix ends up being.

Chuck
