I am thinking of purchasing this unit to be able to map the water where I fish. I do not care if it does not have all the bells and whistles that the higher priced models, I just need a unit to give me some idea of structure on this 7000 acre reservoir.
I currently have a 999 ci hd si unit that I am currently have problems recording data for AC. I do not want to lose another summer messing with what it should do, I have spent quite a few hours reading the info and threads on this site and am convinced that the expertise here can answer my following questions.
1.) I should be able to take the zero lines micro chip from the Helix 5 unit,(once the data is put on the micro) and place it in a micr sd card adapter, and run it in the 999 ci - correct?
2.) I should be able (if needed or wanted at later date ) to interface the Helix 5 unit with the 999ci with appropriate cables as nomenclatured in other threads. -Correct?
3.) I need to run the Helix 5 in si (side imaging configuration) if I want to at some later date use that data with AC to show bottom hardness on my mapping -Correct? Thanks in advance for any direction you can offer --

1. AutoChart Live data (created by your HELIX 5) can only be directly read by another AutoChart Live capable unit (your 999 is not AutoChart Live capable) ...
AutoChart Live data (created by your HELIX 5) can be imported into the AutoChart or AutoChart Pro PC software and converted to the correct format that the 999 can use (but that means purchasing AutoChart or AutoChart Pro software) ...

2. HELIX 5 has no networking capabilities to connect to any other units ...

3. AutoChart Live data (created in your HELIX 5) uses the 2d depth data to create the live mapping data...
SI data is only used when importing recordings into AutoChart Pro for creating SI mosaic ...
