Title: helix 9 si to powerdrive v2 Ipilot link connection problem
Post by: junkfish3 on April 23, 2016, 02:00:52 PM
Hi, I'm new to this site so sorry if this subject has already been discussed. I am having an issue with a brand new Helix 9 si I purchased last weekend i just got everything installed yesterday hooked my transducer and Powerdrive v2 with ipilot link to it, powered everything up, was going great. As i was paging thru the screens to check out this sweet graph I just got, I came to the accessories test page and noticed that it said "Ipilot unconnected".  I thought this is strange as I had just hooked everything up, so I powered everything down, graph, troller, ect. checked my connections, and fired everything up again, same result. I spent most of the afternoon yesterday trying different things trying to get the ipilot and helix to "talk" to each other, with no luck. My software on the Minnkota and Helix are up to date, connections all seem ok, except that there is no i.p. address listed on the helix so that tells me there is no communication happening. I was hoping someone on this site might have had a similar experience to this, any help is greatly appreciated.

On the helix it is v1.21
On the Ipilot link remote v2.040
On the controller v2.15

Those look to be the latest versions ...

As I don't have Terrova, you may need to call HB ...

And please post results in case others here are having the same issue ...

With the excitement of new stuff.   I once plugged the GPS puck into a the wromg slot.  The Ethernet pigtail is similar. Might have more pins I don't know. But just something to check.    I'm sure you've covered this.
Please report back once u get it working.  Any of your buds have another Ethernet capable bird and cable they could bring over?

Rvninc, and Rpadar, thanks for the input, I really appreciate it, I have checked that my plugs are in the correct slots, I have also called HB since my last reply, they had me do a restore default settings and try plugging the I pilot back in with all the up to date software versions, but it's still not connecting..... I like the idea of hooking my troller to a buddy's graph, I'll have to give that a whirl. I will update my findings after I get to try this.

I work out of town so, it takes a while for me to try this stuff, and call HB and so forth.  I only get the weekends

So I finally called HB, they sent me new cords, the 12" adapter cable, and the 30' Ethernet extension cable. I changed out the 12" cable first and bingo, I.p. Address registers and about a minute later my helix displayed ipilot connected, turns out the Ethernet adapter cable was the culprit, just glad I don't have to send in the graph

Did you use Ethernet switch or just cords to terrova? What did you use to hook up the I pilot controller and I pilot link on that terrova and using the helix ? Any help would do
