I had it working on my other boat then moved it to another boat. Everything is working except it's like there is no gps at all . there is no menu to support gps and the test shows no gps connected . Is there a setting like make it visible again I know it works just not recognizing it exists any ideas????

Are you testing where you have a good GPS signal? Outside .... no trees
If it worked before you relocated it the most likely thing is a bad connection.... Do you know anyone with another GPS antenna you could test with?

doesn't the 1197 have an internal antenna?? I have an external hooked up i just don't have the menu on the screen to even select the antenna or chart to use

The 1197 uses an external GPS ..... The screen views won't work unless the unit sees a GPS antenna connected.

dang it hope the unit is bad I just put a new external gps antenna on so where do i go from here cheaper to buy new antenna first i guess

What was the reason for the new GPS antenna? Not sure I understand the progression of events.
One of the first rules of troubleshooting is to go back to when the problem initially started and figure out what changed.

Bob my locator won't find gps I left the old antenna on a boat that i sold and have new antenna now no gps before i had good lock on gps

Check your software version as I mentioned in the other forum ...
AS GRP antenna requires at least 6.300 ...
AS GPS HS antenna requires at least 6.570 ...

I ended up putting a new antenna on and that fixed the problem locked right on thanks for all the help
