I tried this out for the first time this weekend. The only issue I have is the depth reading at high speed (anything over 10 mph). I have the XHS 9 HDSI 180 T transducer. Humminbird tells me I need a second transducer for this (XP 9 20). Is this true? I assumed The transducer that came with the unit would work at all speeds. Could it be the position of the transducer?

Your problem is when you are going over 10 mph your transducer is not in the water deep enough. You can try lowering it into the water more but then you might get a large rooster tail at speed or you can do as Humminbird suggests and use a XP 9 20 transducer thru the hull provided that you have a fiberglass boat. My transducer is lower in the water and I can read speed but my depth is shot.

It should be in the water far enough because its at the same exact height as my 798 transducer on the other side and that reads depth fine. Could it be a slight difference in the angle of the transducer?

Can you post a pic of your xducer installation ...??
Keeping this "Skateboard" xducer is clean bubble free water is sometimes difficult with high performance boat hulls because so little of the boat is actually in the water at plane speeds ...

I suspect there is some kind of turbulence getting across the face of the xducer ...
You could try lowering it some ... or maybe try removing 3 of the layers of starboard and move the xducer down and to the very right of the remaining 1 piece of starboard ...
HB's recommendation (and most high performance boat hull owners) opt for the XP 9 20 and the AS SIDB Y cable because it seems easier to effectively get the high speed depth readings than dealing with the challenges of getting the HDSI mounted in the perfect spot to get good clean bubble free water flowing off the performance hull and across the face of the xducer ...
There are many that eventually find that "sweet spot" for the HDSI to get high speed depth ...
There are many others that just choose the shoot thru ...

I am going to try to lower it a bit and also angle the back down a touch. I cannot move it any more to the right now, the bracket is already hitting the boat. If I take 3 starboard pieces off, it would have to be moved more to the left , but worse yet it would be more than an inch under the boat and create a rooster tail (I know this because it happened on the transducer on the other side) ;D Here are a couple of better pictures.

I am surely not an expert on these matters but it looks to me like your stack of starboard is protruding into the water column below the hull. This is going to create major turbulence as the water stream runs into this 'wall'.
Can you trim the starboard to match the outline of your hull so the water stream can flow freely under your boat?
Just a suggestion.
EDIT: After looking at the second pic, I see that the starboard might possibly be aligned flush behind a hull 'step'. If so, disregard my initial comment.

diy_darrly- My pictures don't show it the best, but it is about as flush as I can get it. I bet it's less that a 16th of an inch off. But I will double check and see if I can adjust it any.
