Title: SI transducer mount on Skeeter MX 1825
Post by: Slinger on September 11, 2012, 10:59:47 AM
Just got an 898c that I'm going to put on a Skeeter MX 1825.  This boat has a recessed area that's about 8-9" deep at the bottom of the transom.  I've seen one other boat with the SI transducer mounted just above the recessed area, as in the photo below.  Is that likely to be the best position?  This area will lift out of the water when on plane, but the boat came with a shoot-through-hull for running at high speed.

That's where I'd put it.

In order for SI to work properly, the transducer needs a clear
line of sight (left and right).
Depending on how your outboard is trimmed, you may have
to trim your motor up a little bit to prevent blocking the left SI.

I would install a transducer plate.  That way, you only have
to drill two holes through the transom.  You can then move
the transducer around, screwing it to the plate.
Some people glue the plate on, but me personally, I would prefer
strong, stainless steel screws/bolts.

Few transducer installs are perfect the first time.
You may have to adjust it (up and down), a few times
to get the optimum height for the clearest images.

Good Luck.

+1 what ITG said.
Don’t forget to pick up an AS-Si-DB-Y cable so that you can connect up both transducers to your 898c Si unit at the same time.

Thanks guys!  I'll start there and see how it works.
