Title: Transducer worries for an 1158 or 1198c...
Post by: Mark129 on May 27, 2011, 02:18:14 PM
Hi,

I have a Garmin 2010C with a shoot through the hull transducer now, the transducer works fairly well and I keep the boat (21' center console) in the water with bottom paint.

Can I expect similar performance from the shoot through the hull transducer attached to an 1158C?

Can I start with the same through the hull transducer on an 1198, then add the transom mount later for side imaging?

One challenge I face is getting the boat out of the water, it's not easy for me until winter so deferring the external transducer is a plus.

Mark for my money I would go with a transom mount SI/DI xducer and keep band X sonor unit for high speed/cross ref untill I was real up on the HB unit. If I can be of help Yell. Enjoy Roddy
