Title: Transducer location
Post by: bakerdave on April 29, 2010, 05:18:10 PM
I will try to post a pic of my transom when my boat is out of the shop. Impellar went and enginge overheaeted, what a mess. The hull is a deep v
i have tried the transducer on both port and starboard side of transom. It is mounted right now 15 inches fro prop. at low speeds (less than 7mph) i am unable to get a reading on side imaging on the side towards the prop. The transducer is just barely below the lowest point on the lower unit. I am unable to mount any lower without getting closer to the prop. when is am running at about 10mph it works fine. am i getting cavitation from prop causing me to loose signal on the one side. I should say that on the side towards the prop i do get a small amount of imaging on screen and then the rest is unreadable. (if that make sense).. I saw that humminbird has a splitter for the transducer cable, can i run 2 transducers with one on either side.

Not sure I am understanding what you are saying about the signal loss, prop and all so will wait to comment when I see pictures of your boat.

Yes you can run two Si transducers – one on each side of the motor – and connect them together with the AS-Si-LR-Y transducer splitter cable.

may try the 2 transducers. I will post a pic when i get the boat on the water. on side imaging were you see water depth down the center dividing the 2 sides, you get about an inch bottom view below water level and then the rest of the screen just looks like white noise. The other side shows a good bottom view accross screen
