humminbird 898 si wireless transducer : is It possibile?

Hi  guys I would like to do by myself a baitboat and I have got a 898c si (Europe) , I've got a second transducer that I didn't use An i would like to try to make a wireless connection between the sonar and the transducer. Some baitboat factory like Vdrone put the entire fishfinder inside the baitboat hull and repeat the signal I think in radiofrequency and also the video signal by fpv...

But..isn't possible that couldn't exist a method where I can have the fishfinder outside the baitboat and stay at the bankside and command all the things wireless ? 

I search for interlink or nmea connections but nothing exists wireless for humminbird..

It would all depend on whether standard networking component would work or not.  You would have to spend quite a bit of money to experiment and find out.

I have never heard of anyone attempting to do this.  One of the major hurdles would be because there is quite a bit of power required to ping the transducer.
With the Humminbird Onix, the transducer can be connected to an SM2000 which would supply the power to ping the transducer.....This module is connected to the Onix via Ethernet .... The SM2000 requires power as well as the Ethernet connection ..... I don't know if the Onix would communicate to the SM2000 via a standard wireless Ethernet connection or not.

If you find out how to make it work....let us know...I like those who think outside the box.

It might not be relevant anymore, but the answer is no. The connection to the transducere is analog sonar signal. A wireless solution would entail building a complete sonar transmitter / receiver in the baitboat section and an emulator for the transducer into the shore station. Basically this means: impossible.

Humminbird once had the Smartcast system (maybe they still has?). The Smartcast pod was to be cast with a rod and had radio communication with a head unit. I don't know if it worked well enought to have any value. /Rickard

It's actually quite good as a tow system and also sold as such in bait boats here in Europe. Not the original smartcast but a Chinese ripoff called Freecast. That also works with the original smartcast. Only problem: black/white only, no gray values. Other than bottom profile and depth it's useless.
