Today was my first day on the water with my HB. It was an OK experience. The HB worked great moving slow but up on plane it did not read the bottom. I moved the sonar down a bit and I will see if that fixes that issue.
I also noticed the DI and the SI were difficult to read in the overcast skies. They seemed too dark. Not sure how to address this. Looked through some settings but was not sure which ones to change.
Any suggestions?

I also loose bottom at about 7mph not sure which direction to move transducer up or down, Reads good up to that speed any suggestions?

Folks...the mounting location has everything to do with your S I readings at higher speeds. For example, my S I transducer is mounted on my transom and is mounted about 1 1/2 inches up from the bottom of the boat bottom. Now, once you lower the S I transducer below the boats bottom line, you should be able to run at higher speeds and receive better signals.
Keep in mind, the S I transducers are very expensive and will cost several $$$ to replace if some type of object was to hit the ducer causing damage.
I get my readings at a low pace, 2 to 5 mph...once I am over that speed, my signal is weak. In my opinion, the S I units are not for high speed traveling trying to receive data...they are for searching for what you are after.
If you will look around on this forum, you will see that many folks use their units at a much slower speed and receive much better returns. Hope this helps.

I'm able to hold the bottom with 80, 200, 400, and 800 kHz up to 25 knots (I don't go faster). The 400 and 800 kHz has static or bubbles at speed but I can still hold the bottom.

Saint thanks for the reply, what I'm trying to accomplish is depth at higher speeds, when I,m looking for structor or fish I go about 2mph. My transducer is mounted on the back of my boat and is below the bottom of the boat do I need to move the whole unit up?

Normally when you loose depth at higher boat speeds it means that you need to lower the transducer to get it below the layer of air bubbles that are flowing off the hull. Sometimes you can angle the transducer downwards in the back by a few degrees and this will help as well. It maybe that you need to relocate the transducer or look at using a second transducer for depth readings at higher boat speeds.
