Title: AS GPS HS Precision GPS Compass
Post by: D Johnson on May 04, 2018, 11:17:08 PM
Do I need this installed or not as the Helix 10 has GPS and I have a Heading sensor already installed for the Minikota TM and I Pilot Link?   This is Denise's answer to my email I sent HB CS.  I would suggest that the heading sensor for the I Pilot Link is for the I Pilot link.  Mounting the heading sensor that comes with the AS 360 will help you when marking waypoints to put you right on your position, however, that will be left up to you.   I guess if I don't install it I can't use the 360 for way points and maybe the accuracy won't be quite as good?  With 3 Helix units, TM, transducers all over and heading sensors my boat is going to sink due to the weight of the wire. lol   I just figures users might have a better answer for this as CS has to follow what the manual says.  Don

The heading sensor for the Minn Kota has no GPS  ... It is only used for the jog feature of the Minn Kota TM SpotLock ... It will not connect to and cannot be used by the HB unit  ...

To get heading data to the HB unit - the AS GPS HS antenna must be used  ...

Thanks Richie.  I went ahead and installed it.  My fishing buddy says I have more sonar then a Navy destroyer. Give me something to do between bites.  Don
