« on: April 10, 2013, 12:23:56 PM »
I have a 1198 with dedicated power from the Battery, I am now intalling a 898 on the bow, can I just splice into the 1198 power cord and not run a line all the way to the same battery

I wouldn't recommend doing it that way.
You will most likely get interference from the 1198.
The best way would be to get a small dedicated
battery for the 898 up front.
If that's not possible, run wires all the way to the
battery in the back, but try to keep the two sets of
sonar battery wires separated as best you can.

With a large enough gauge wire you could power multiple units.
Personally, and although it is a pain, I would run a separate set of wires with an inline fuse from the new unit to the cranking battery.  This way you can isolate any electrical issues between the units and if the fuse blows on one you always have the second unit to use because it is on a separate power connection.
