SI Install question
« on: December 17, 2011, 10:34:59 PM »
I am REAL close to getting an HB SI unit ;D but just thought of a question in regard to my possible setup.I have a 16/48 war eagle with tiller yamaha. I was planning on mounting the SI transducer on transom and then use my current unit on TM. My question is, when I have motor down ( not raised for shallow water) but down, and motoring slowly looking with the SI, will the motor interfere with the SI signal? And if so, what tips or tricks can I do to fix it.

any info will be much appreciated. Just trying to make the install seamless and get as much info as I can BEFORE i get started
Tom

The people on here that really know what they are talking about when it comes to installation are going to want to see some pictures of your transom....from the back and from the side.
**Looking for the one that makes it all worthwhile**

Make it several pictures there Tom and from a low height as well (about as high as the transducer would sit).  Be sure to measure the clearance between the transom and the lower unit of the motor when that motor is trimmed all the way down as well.

Here are some of the pics that I took last night. The new transducer will be a little lower than the current one, and the motor was trimmed all the way down in the pics.

You have plenty of room there Tom.  Even the big HDSi transducer for the 898, 998 and 1198 units is only six inches long (so needs 7 inches of clearance) and you have way more than that.

Does the camo pattern help you sneak up on the fish or is that for sneaking up on other fishermen’s waypoints?  LOL!  ;D
