Title: Humminbird Newbie who needs some clarification with networking units please
Post by: FishThatSnag on October 26, 2014, 06:41:48 PM
Hello
Someone has no doubt asked this question before, but I simply need some clarification before I proceed with purchasing cables.
I have a 898c SI unit installed at the console on my boat and also have a 788cxi HD sitting in the shed. I would like to know what I require to network the two units together and have them operate off of the 898c SI transducer only. The idea is to install the 788cxi HD at the bow. All I need on the 788cxi HD is depth and gps as I fish a lot in creeks and shallow water finding structure with the 898 and then with the iPilot sneaking around catching those wonderful fish.

I believe all I need is the following: An AS EC 15E Ethernet Cable (15 Feet) to connect to the 898 and a AS EC QDE 700 to connect the Ethernet to the 788cxi unit? Is this correct?

Also I have a 55lb Riptide iPilot MinnKota I assume for it to speak to the 898 directly I would need iPilot link and an Ethernet switch?

Thanks for all of your help in advance.
Luke

Welcome to the Humminbird Side Imaging Forums Luke.

Yes, if a 15-foot extension cable is all that you need; than what you listed is correct, including what you would need when you get the iPilot Link as well.  Just make sure that 15 feet is long enough as you have to allow for the cable to be routed around things in your hull and then there is the vertical distances it has to travel as well.
