Question about Onix and TM with Universal Sonar 2 Transducer
« on: December 15, 2014, 12:48:50 AM »
If I purchase a trolling motor like Minn Kota Terrova which has the Universal Sonor 2 transducer:

1) Can I use the Universal Sonar 2 with the Onix?
2) Will I lose functionality vs. the Onix transducer?

You would need the AS 14 SI DB Y cable ...
http://www.humminbird.com/Products/AS-14-SI-DB-Y/

And the Minn Kota cable for connecting the Onix to the US2 ...
http://www.minnkotamotors.com/Products/MKR-US2-13-UNIVERSAL-SONAR-2-ADAPTER-CABLE-HB-ONIX/

I know Doug V is using his shoot thru XP 9 20 Dual Beam with the Onix and it's basically the same 2d piezo as the US2...

So with the additional cables, will I get full Onix functionality (DI, SI, etc.) with the Universal Sonar 2 Transducer?

My original plan is to have the Onix transducer mounted to the trolling motor but I would rather use the built-in Universal Sonos 2 transducer if possible while maintaining full functionality.

I think I may have mis-understood your original intent ...(I thought you already had the US2 and were wanting to use it)...

The US2 is only a 2d Dual Beam piezo ...

You would still need the stock XHS 14 HDSI 180 T for SI/DI and temperature ...
--------

Your original plan of installing the Onix XHS 14 HDSI 180 T on the TM will be your best scenario ...

Transducer Shield and Saver makes a good bracket for this application ...

Onix only new Transducer available

If you have an Onix on the bow and want Di out of the unit then this new TD  will work. Made specifically for Onix on the bow users.

HB part #  XTM 14 DI T

Very important to note that you MUST HAVE software update to 2.0
