Title: Select Membership update
Post by: Double Digit on February 09, 2012, 11:09:10 AM
OK I just got off the phone with Humminbird.I am on file as a registered select member and as long as everybody who signed up as a select member got a confirmation email that states a member # you should be fine.If you signed up but didn't receive a member # I would call HB and sign up again.I asked the lady why even know I am a select member and have gave my permission countless times to receive emails  from HB on news promotions deals etc why am I not getting any emails? She went into my account verified that I indeed gave my permission and couldn't understand why I'm not getting any emails. Then she asked if I added humminbirdselect@humminbird.com to my address book in my email I said no I didn't.She thinks this is the problem so tonight when I get home I will add humminbird to my address book and hopefully this will fix the problem. Then I asked about the new updates for the 898 and 998 due out last month and I could tell in her voice this is something she is hearing a lot.She said that HB is also updating humminbird PC and adding more things to the update for the 898 and 998 so they are running behind scedule  but assured  me that this update isn't total BS and that the update is on its way just taking more time then they thought. So I guess we just need to be patient guys..... ;)

DD thanks for your time in helping with this issue.
And for posting the findings. We are more knowledgable today than yesterday thanks to you..

I am a bit confused on the ading HB nto the mailbox,  as the notice should have gone to spam possibly.

But great to know that we must take another step and then receive the notices.
It will be worth the effort to add HB in.....
Thanks again for all your efforts...

Chuck

After reading DD’s post I couldn’t remember seeing more than just a few e-mails from Humminbird for anything.  I know that I have received one or two over the years but I don’t think that there have been that many.  Anyone else remember receiving any?  These are through the regular registration and not the Humminbird Select program.

We (Humminbird) has found over the years that we have had issues sending messages to and receiving them from different e-mail; providers.  I imagine that we will continue to have these uncontrollable issues in the future as well.

As for the software updates: every time I hear of a date attached to an update I groan inside.  I know that this is a hoped for date and if all things go as planned it will be attained.  However, this is the real world where unforeseen issues pop up and have to be addressed.  So sit tight folks as they are working on the new software and at the same time on all the future products as well.

Maybe it would be better to not specify a date. We would not get our hopes up and then get dissappointed.

Dang, it is hard enough to keep the computers running...... ::) Oh wait, the units are really computers..

It is difficult to keep everything working together especially since there are different code writers for the different areas of the code.  And then outside vendors hired to write specific lines of code.
HB is just small code, think what the computer guys have to face with 100's of different interacting programs..

I am amazed that all this even works as well as it does..

Greg

I think I have received 2 emails from Humminbird over the last 2 years and I do not remember what they were for.

I appreciate that HB does not fill up my mailbox.  When I subscribe to a site and they send, send and send, I unsubscribe them and if they do not stop I block them.

If I want to know something I log in to HB and see what is new then follow up on the forums to see what is coming up.

George

I registered with HB Select in December and received an email in response, but never got the follow-up with customer number and phone number.  I sent them a reply today; don't know if that will get it done or not.  Should I call them instead?

HB actually did reply to my email, before I had a chance to call them, and I now have a customer number and contact phone number.  Thanks all.
