Weathersense hook up
« on: May 31, 2014, 09:07:19 AM »
Want to hook up a "Weathersense" to my 998. Besides SI transducer I also have a through the hull transducer.

Would the Weathersense use the "Y" cable and plug into the "Comm/GPS" port?

Thanks

So does the y-cable plug directly into the 998 unit, then the GPS & Weathersense plug into y-cable. What is the Pig tail on the GPS wire do, if anything?

That is correct fishnnnn.  Both the external GPS Receiver and WeatherSense get plugged into the AS-YC cable and the AS-YC cable gets plugged into the NMEA port connection on the unit (the transducers have their own set of y-cables).

That pigtail wire is for an NMEA 0183 output connection if it is needed.

Thanks! Looks like I have to order an extention cable also. Way mine is mounted the 2 plug ends on end of y-cable would be exposed at all times.
The
I ordered the AS EC10 cable. I assume that plugs directly into back of unit then y-cable to that.

Thanks

Thanks for your help.  I have unit hooked up and seems to work fine. Last question,  I hope,  does the Weathersense history track even if unit,  998, is off? Assuming the history feature is "On"

Yes it does as long as the internal Lithium coin cell battery is still good.

So not my last question! Trying to figure out indications. Arrow on left between the +/- sign it never moves does it? What point/value does it represent? Last,  what is the value of each bar on the history track?

Yes the arrow does change.  It represents the trend for the barometric data based on past readings.
Last time I checked this each bar represented 0.5mb.
