898 Transducer
« on: March 09, 2011, 02:47:13 PM »
Hello all. This will be my first post and I'm sure it won't be my last.I would like opinions on where to mount my 898 transducer on this Tracker. I ordered the sternmate mount, it should be here Friday.Other than that everything is mounted and wired up.Thanks!ila_rendered

I mounted my 898 transducer on my tracker boat in the same spot as the factory one was, which looks to be right where yours is mounted on the right lower side. It works just fine there too. Bill.

I didnt see any transducer, just the speed sensor.  Here is where I would recommend for best overall performance.

The factory transducer was mounted on the left side where the three holes are.  I would like to put it back there if it will work. I don't think there is enough room on that step. I will have to check when the sternmate comes in.Thanks.

I doubt that there is enough room for that big HDSi transducer on the step and I don’t know how well it would work where the original transducer is since that is a stepped hull.  I would try it where the factory one was and if you don’t get high-speed depth readings I would maybe try a XSO-9-20-T Stick-On transducer under the hull just off to the right or left side of the keel (so it is a few inches to the left or right of the motor).

ila_renderedThis is my 898 transducer mounted on a bass tracker. I get depth readings up to about 38mph. My s.i. readings are clear to 5mph on the engine side. Bill.
