Title: Transducer cable
Post by: jorawil on January 06, 2012, 10:46:26 PM
I have a 898 SI/DI unit. My cable for the transducer got pinched and cut some of the wires. Can these wires be spliced back togeather and will the unit work? This section of tht cable will not be in the water.
Thanks,
jorawil

I forget where it is on this forum but Jolly Roger had a post last year on cable splicing. Good pictures. Maybe you can search better than I.

Make sure and replace and reconnect the foil shielding as well.

The foil shields are part of the attempt to prevent crosstalk between pairs of wire carrying current and causing interference.
Just the way these new very low amp current technological devices work. Not only sonar but other electeronics, like computers..
