Author Topic: new software 6.600 hangs up when scolling thru views (Read 11558 times)

I installed the new update because i just installed the 360 unit well now when i scoll thru the views it will hang up the unit this unit is a 1198 si. I thought i would just hit the pre set view that i had and when i did it rebooted the unit. Tryed this several times and the same outcome. I would think H.b. would do a better job on there software befor they mess up a bunch of units!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ive got over 6000.00 of there equipment and than i have to put up with this crap!

Check the most recent posts on software. Folks are reporting problems.
If you decide to go back a level of code then again search the forum for posts concerning downleveling and for the step to follow when doing so.
I know this may render the 360 usless right now but at least your unit will run..
Lets see how HB steps ups to the mess up..

Does this happen with the boat on the water or is this happening with the boat on the trailer or is this in the simulator mode?

Does this also happen when you scroll through the Views slowly?

Have you reset the preset keys after you updated the software?

Okay this happens on the trailer i haven't had a chance to take it out on the water yet will Sat.

I was going thru the the views pretty fast and it hung up so i tryed my pre set keys to un hang it and it rebooted, i went thru this 4 or 5 times with the same results. I went back and reset my pre set keys and turn the unit off. I than went back thru the views and pre sets and it seemed to work it was getting late and i didn,t have time to mess with it alot than. I'm going to try it again tonight and see what happens.

This was not in the simulator mode its was in normal start-up

I'm not an IT specialist, but the accumulating firmware problems may indicate a hardware overburdened. LOWRANCE has therefore released a Gen2 with more power and a faster processor, and that with good outcome.

Ok haven't had it on lake yet ,but got a response from Tech support and tryed there solutions. I was told after i installed new software to restore factory defaults, i did this before i installed the new software, but didn't understand that this needed to be done after the installation of new software! So i did reset defaults after install and reset all my preset views, scrolled thru all the views pretty fast never hung up and also uesd my presets everything seems to be fine now, will let you know after this week-in going to play with my new 360 imaging !!!!!!!!

The updates actually restore defaults for you now before applying the update. Always do it again afterwards

Strangely not everyone has to do this, but it’s one of those things that is easy to do and doesn’t hurt anything even if you didn’t need to do it.

Ok I thought I had it fixed Nope I turned both units on tonight same thing. Rest the factory defaults all worked great, turned units off and back same thing hang up hit presets button and unit reboots HELP

I was having a strange anomaly with a missing menu item, went back a version, then reinstalled 6.6 and the problem went away.

I only tried this after I heard from others that they were not experiencing the same problem. Reset Defaults a couple of times didn't correct the problem.

Here is another thing I would try. Switch to basic user mode shut down reboot and switch to advanced. When the format Nav directories option in the setup menu came out this was the only way I could get it to appear.

Yes i went through this 3 or 4 times this weekin and finally got things to stay and work right, i really don't know what a did unless it was unhooking the ethernet switch from both units and went thru the process, this seeemed to fix the problem

another problem my 1198c si won't run in simulator mode with the 6.600 update seem slike one probem after another.

You are the only one to report these issues and there is a ton of discussion about it on BBC. Seems like your unit is having some issues

There are several post on here that has the same problem in the simulator mode, im not just coming up with these conditions for the fun of it! I installed the 360 imaging unit and i go out and play with it to learn all i can before hitting the water. I read on here last night of another post where he said his would kept rebooting in simulator mode so i trywed mind, the same thing it would kept rebooting everytime you would try to change views!

Yeah, that's how mine started too. I was able to use simulator for about a week with no issue. Now, it continuously reboots as soon as it enters simulator.

Ya it's hard to say what's causing it, I have restored my defaults I don' t know how many times. Unless someone has the same hookup as I do it's hard to say if someone else would reboot or not. I have two units 898 and 1198 and a 360 imaging all hook together with a Ethernet switch. My 898 works perfect with new update even in simulator. I might have a unit problem although I reinstalled 6.470 update and all worked fine , so I reinstalled 6.600 and it still Keeps rebooting. When I did all this the only accessory I had hook to it was transducer.

Fixed an issue where SI data was scrolling at twice the intended rate
Fixed an issue where 2D/DI data was not in sync if 83/200 kHz mode was enabled

Fixed a bug that caused some models to sometimes skip a view when cycling through views
Locked NMEA output at 4800 baud when enabled

The changes on these models excludes the 360 Imaging capabilities along with above mentioned SI adjustments plus a few other differences. All I can think to suggest would be to re-download the 6.600 software and try re-installing it.

Hmmm. I wonder why I didn't get the email? I'm registered with select. Anyway, so which version should I use? I will be getting Ipilot link in the near future, but I have no intention of bothering with 360..

Ok took Gregs advise and reinstalled it again i went thru alot of different precautions this time to make sure it installed right. Well i won't bore you with all the details but got the simulator to work on the 1198c si. all seems to be ok for now.

The 6.600 update contains the software needed for the i-Pilot Link plus the software needed for the 360 Imaging. These all come as one package and are not individually selected options when you download the software. So you are stuck with 6.600 for now until a new software update comes out.

Glad that its working right for you alnash. Just wish I understood why it did not work right the forst time, Software download gremilins maybe?
