ONIX 10 & LakeMaster
« on: July 10, 2014, 02:24:40 PM »
I have the LakeMaster version 5 Great Plains card. I'm not sure that the unit is reading it at all. Nothing on the Map Source page says anything about LakeMaster. The page shows the same whether the card is in or not. Chart Card info says
 Embedded chart :NO.
 Network Chart : NO .
Card Status: Valid Card.
Only thing that changes is when the card is out, it says. No Card .

I bought it off of Amazon
Seems to me it should show what card it is ?

I don’t think it will.
Did you try and look at a lake that on that map card and see if anything changed when it was installed?

If your boat is where the GPS Receiver can see the GPS satellites, then you can check it while on the trailer.  Just zoom out and move the cursor over to a lake that is covered by the map and you will see/not see the changes made by the LakeMaster map.

I did what you recommended and pulled the card , the card is good and works well. I guess I expected more?  Maybe the lake I was on lacks contour.
Thanks for the help

That could be Thermite.  Which lake did you look at?

Here is a list of all the lakes on the Great Plains ver. 5 map card:

The lake was Branched Oak in Nebraska, guess there isnt much for contour changes there? Thanks for your help.

sounds like autochart will be free for onix users soon, you can then do your own overlays!  My dad used to fish Branched Oak a lot! I was there decades ago!.

Thanks Robert, I went back and changed the link in my post.  Guess I must have saved that document before I posted it.

Thermite, Branched Oak should be a High-Definition Survey, so if it is not showing much in the way of contour changes there just may not be any.

Yes CarolC, you will be able to make your own maps using only your ONIX unit when the download comes out.  You won;t have as many options as you would with the full AutoChart software but you will have everything you need to map or update a map within the unit.
