Title: Denmark and my plans for using my Humminbird 987 cxSI
Post by: dybvad417 on April 14, 2009, 12:45:56 PM
Vendsyssel coast in The Northern Jutland has historically acted as a magnet for seafarers.
This shows many shipwrecks on the seabed along the coast, constantly on. Inger beach with shipwreck effect, have up to 1900 years been an almost daily occurrence.

Often, a piece of alien lives ended on the seabed at the nordjydske west coast, in an inferno of wind and water - including when ships were caught in a northwest storm and was unable to maneuver away from the West Coast.
It was not unwelcome to coastal residents in the often small poor communities where this occurred - along the coast often treeless could no mountain and the collection of debris, an essential complement to a modest income.
Sinister narratives about some sinkings in Jammerbugten (including name) reveals that one of the country lit the pyres, which allowed the seafarers believe that they had crossed Skagens guy - then walked ships tragic because when you hit the coast and many seamen life lost ...

Marine Casualty numbers can always be debatable, since you do not have adequate statistics from antiquity to close. 1852. But in the period 1852-1892 - about  of 40 years - has been around. 3,000 accidents at the Nørre Jyske Rescue services.
About half ended up as a total disaster, where everything was lost. The other half was recovered by the coast family, then by official authorities and eventually the private salvage companies.

Overall, we must assume that there has been no less than 20,000 shipwrecks along the coast region!
- About half of all disaster in Denmark has happened in Northern Jutland.

So as you see, i have a job to do, finding some of these wrecks.

Two friends of mine are very active divers, and they are waiting for me.

I will inform here on the forum when i get some great pictures.

Good luck with your hunt Gert!
As Robert already reminded me: This is the Mug Shot section, so where's the picture  :).

20000 Wrecks? Sounds like paradise! I'm looking forward to see what you'll find.
I still have to work on the boat and hope to get ready within the next two weeks. If you make it south one day, give me a call.
