997C
« on: March 06, 2012, 09:06:13 PM »
Putting my 997C on my boat this year,I noticed a 1/8"x3" line on the top left corner running along the top of the unit.Down the left side there are three 3/8" circles running down the left side. The lines look like air bubbles or water behind the screen. When I push on the water or air marks nothing happens.Whats wrong and will this affect the unit in any way.

Can you post a picture of what you are seeing?

I have seen that in some units.  It is an imperfection in the bonding process or what ever it is called.
Not a very prevelant issue but it does happen.
Sometimes this happens after the unit has been exposed to temperature.

How old is the unit and when did it first show up..?

might be an aging issue.

If it does not prevent you seeing the display then keep on with it.

If it gets worse then it might be time for a new unit.... :P

If the screen is an issue, contact customer service and they will repair or replace the unit 997c SI for $260.45, they will send you a form and give you shipping instructions for the unit only.

Return Form (pdf) remember you need to talk to them first to firm up costs, etc.

997c  Cuuck, you would think a unit that I paid almost $1800.00 for would last more than 5 years.I know guys that have there unit much longer and they never take it off their boat.Maybe that's where I went wrong,I should have left it on the boat.

Hickory....I agree in the time frame concern. But I do worry sometimes in warrenties that are less than a year in length. Look at cars for another example...
Extending warrenties can also add to the cost..
I would take this up with customer service and at a management conversation level. Some one who has been empowered by HB to speak and make decisions.
