What a Day!! Sorry to say that Robert after you had just Rain for the last days.
Just came in from diving and man, I'm still exited like hell!

I spent the last three weeks getting used to the new unit and figuring out how to work with it.

After I got a tip from a buddy who works at the Water Police, I drove out on the second day I had my boat in the water. Three years ago, a small sail boat capsized and sunk during a storm. The Water Police went out a couple of times to find it but couldn't.
When I drove out, I had a contact after 30 Minutes at the location where the boat was propably laying. Inexperienced with my new toy, I didn't know what it was, but I already had the boat located. I drove back some days after and got this shots, which convinced me that I was in the right place:



Three days ago I was on the water in a different area of the Lake and got this as I glanced on the screen:



This one just looked too good to be true, so I called my dive buddy and asked him if he got time for a little exploration dive. He showed up this evening and we took off to take a look on what we thought MIGHT be one boat.

In fact both contacts ARE small sail boats!!
The most amazing thing is, that both are lying on the ground exactly like the snapshots make one think how they might be positioned.
The first one sits upright on the ground, mast and sails laying beside of it.
The second one lays on its Starboard side, mast and sails still rigged but covered with mud and muscles. Even the keel is where one can see (or imaging) it on the picture.

On both boats are nets entangled with the hull or the mast. So it wasn't a bad idea to get a copilot for the dives  .

Now it seems like I got some sort of addiction to this Bird. I'm curious what else is laying around here....

I would say you have the bug!  I know when I first got my 987c, I was on the the water every weekend and even during the week when I had time!  I am jeolous!  I haven't been in the water "diving" in over a month.

The last one looks like it could be some dredge pipe or something similar. Any ideas?

I have something really cool coming up to tell you about, but cant talk about it on here.  I will PM you!

I have the bug  .

The last four pictures are all from the same object and I hope it's not the body of a missing women who disappeared last fall.
I think the line in the last picture is caused by an anchor that was dragged along the bottom, but I'm not sure. But it would be amazing if it would be just that and one can see it on the screen of the unit! So I'll go down and check out what it is to be sure.

Did you make a recording of that same target?  You could use YellowFin to play it back and measure the target and see how long it is.

It does not look like a body to me.  That is a pretty hard sonar return and bodies will usually have a weeker return. 

I have interpreted a few images of actual victims (I will not post them here out of respect) and have also done some testing with swimmers and divers in the water, etc.  The skin is not very good at bouncing sound waves so you will actually gain more information from looking at the shadow of the target.

I think you're right Bob.
The picture shows the return really bright and this gotta be something solid. I checked it with YelowFin and come to a height of approx. 35 cm.

About this "dragging" line: It nearly caused "disaster" last night.

I drove out to check a similar line that I had found on the first time out. I just followed the track record I had saved of this cruise. For sure I found the line again without any problem and started to follow it.
Concentrating not to loose it, I stared on the screen and didn't pay much attention to what was going on around me. There wasn't any traffic any more, so I didn't have to worry about running over a swimmer or a boat crossing my way. All of a sudden I heard a faint scratching on the starboard side and wondered what that was. As I looked behind a buoy came in sight right behind the boat  .
Whow! That was close! Unfortunately I didn't record the event, but took a snapshot before I took off.





Now, these lines are in fact "dragging" lines!
This particular was caused by the mooring stone of the buoy. The buoy is a marker for a natural reservation area. It actually marks the border of this area and it's not allowed to drive or swim into this area.   Uuups!
Anyways, these buoys stay out all year and are not recovered for the winter. So they are caught in the ice when the lake freezes up. In spring when the ice breaks and starts shifting, some of the buoys are taken away from their position by the ice and the mooring stone is dragged along on the ground.

Lesson learned: Don't watch TV while driving!

This one is from the second boat and shows parts of the number. I had to remove some of the muscles to find it. Maybe the Water Police can find out when it sunk.

Hi all,

been out a couple of days ago and ran over this one:



Looked pretty much like a hull, so we went diving today, to see if I have a third boat discovered.

Yes, it is. But unlike the other two boats, this one is a real "Wreck". The hull sits upright on the ground and is completely covered with sand and silt. Just 10 -15 cm of one side of it are still sticking out from the ground.
The hull is tipped on both ends and I don't know which one is front and which is rear. From fingertip feeling I'd say it's either an aluminium or a steel / iron hull. The length I estimate between 6 and 7 metres.

We searched the surroundings, but found nothing than 40 metres of thin rope. No treasure, no champagne no nothing, buhuhuh  .

I found this one

Wreck about 110 years old.   Load  coal.  Depth  10 meters

Problem is that there is not any known ships sunk on that position  

A new discovered wreck in Denmark  by me the first month with my new dear 987 Cx SI.

So 987 Cx SI rules too

You make me jealous with these big wrecks. I don't think that something big like yours will show up on my screen. At least nothing unknown  .

Hm,
looks pretty much like the second boat I discovered, but it's hard to estimate what it is.
For sure it's interesting enough to go down and find out what it is.
