I had my Boat out yesterday, for the first time, with the 360 installed. For the most part everything went OK. The unit claimed it was not fully deployed a couple of times. It told me it was not fully deployed and to retract it. I did and then it deployed fully. I am hoping that it was a fluke.
Need some advice as to what to set settings at. I bounced around with them and was not pleased with what I saw. From what I saw I believe the effective distance is going to be 50-70 feet max. Beyond that it is distorted.
I was in water from 6' to 40'.
Not complaining, but I am pretty efficient with Side Imaging. This is different. Any advice?

I am running sensitivity at 12, scan speed standard, was running blue but now amber 1 palette, sharpness low.

After talking to the Humminbird guys today and seeing what they use, I am going to switch over to amber 2 palette and run sensitivity to around 14.  Just made it much brighter.

A local guy was having problems with the way things looked on the graph and I suggested he would level the unit on the water or at least get a leveling idea with the boat moving at 5mph or so.  He did and his images are much better.  Might want to see how the unit was leveled.

This is from mine.

Cool! Thanks I will try the settings and check 'On the water level'.
How do you change the color palette ? I normally use Amber 2. I changed it on the SI and everything else but I could not seem to find the option in 360.

Go to main menu press it twice than go to accessories select 360 and it gives you a option there for different setting, its the same place where you change the depth of deployment

Hey Guys. I want to mount my 1198 on the bow. However, I don't have an SI unit with Ethernet to put on-dash.
Can I plug the Ethernet cable to a 5 port hub and still connect my GPS to the 1198 on the front? Or do I have to have an SI Ethernet unit on-dash to connect GPS and 360 to, then connect the 1198 to the hub and share the info of the on-dash unit?

Frank,
According to your listed units you have an 898 unit which is an Si unit and Ethernet capable.

I guess I am not understanding what you are trying to do here: are you moving your 1198 from the console dash to the bow?  If so, then you can just mount it there and connect it to the 5 port hub and it will work just like it does on the dash now.

Greg
I am sorry if somewhere I posted that I have an 898. I have a 997 and a 1198.

I recently purchased the 360 and have it connected to the 1198 (on the Dash). I have found that I want the 1198 on the Bow in order to utilize the 360 imaging while running the trolling motor. The issue is that the 360 utilizes the New GPS puck that is located by the 360 unit. The cable on the puck is not long enough to reach the bow. I was curious if there was an extension for the puck cable?

Sorry for the confusion.
Frank

You would be looking for the AS-EC10 than Frank.
http://store.humminbird.com/products/322336/AS_EC10

Look under where it shows your name on a post.  Under you name is your joined date, location, number of posts and then your units.  The 898 is listed there.
